Dave's late review - Rock Band Beatles

Ok, so as you might know, I have 3 children, all boys - 18, 15, and 12. So by the time I get a game to review, it's going to be.. what is the charitable term? It might be in the bargain bin. So this might be a bit old. For my birthday this year, I got RockBand: Beatles. It's a fun game, full of Rock Band goodness, but I have to wonder. Fully 75% of the songs on here, I've barely heard of, and the jams I wanted to play (Across the Universe, Strawberry Fields..) are just not there. I'm assured they will be available as down loadable content later.

Awesome, cause, you know, buying a 60 dollar game to play my favorite songs, and then being told I'll have to spend another $17 dollars to get what I wanted out of the game, yeah, that makes me happy.

It's like Apple Corps and MTV decided to say, you're a big old sucker, and we don't care, cause you'll keep hitting that lever like a good little mouse.

Here's a brief rundown:
This is the songlist for Beatles 1, which is billed as the definitive #1 hits album from the Beatles:

1. Love Me Do - Nope
2. From Me to You - Not here
3. She Loves You - Here either
4. I Want to Hold Your Hand -- Oh, here we go, they got that one in there.
5. Can't Buy Me Love -- Got this one, awesome
6. A Hard Day's Night -- Here
7. I Feel Fine -- Here
8. Eight Days a Week -- Here
9. Ticket to Ride -- Here
10. Help! -- Not here
11. Yesterday -- Nope
12. Day Tripper -- This one actually is
13. We Can Work It Out -- and this one isn't
14. Paperback Writer -- Got this one
15. Yellow Submarine -- and this
16. Eleanor Rigby -- but not this.
17. Penny Lane -- or this one.
18. All You Need Is Love -- and for the love of the band, not this one.
19. Hello Goodbye -- they do have this one.
20. Lady Madonna -- not this, though
21. Hey Jude -- or this.
22. Get Back -- they do have this one though
23. The Ballad of John & Yoko - they don't have this one, but who cares
24. Something -- they do have this
25. Come Together -- and this, Yay!
26. Let It Be -- not this one, though, that makes sense.
27. The Long and Winding Road -- Not this one either.

So lets go from this "definitive" collection:

We have 27 number ones. Out of my quick count, only 13 appear in the ultimate collection of their songs for Rock Band. I'm sure that they will generously offer me the rest of the songs for $17 dollars per album Wow, what a deal.

Final impression? It's a fun game, if you don't mind spending hundreds of dollars (and this is IF you have the required instruments ahead of time) for the actual game, as you would expect to play it.
